To soften them we will need to adjust three parameters,Map Resolution , Filter Size and Filter Step.


Adjust each light according to the parameters listed below.

1. Select the light called Outside and click Light>Edit
Change its shadow parameters to:

Map resolution 500
Filter Size 100
Filter Step 100


2. Select the light called Art and click Light>Edit
Change its shadow parameters to:

Map resolution 500
Filter Size 50
Filter Step 50

3. Select the light called Fluorescent and click Light>Edit
Change its shadow parameters to:

Map resolution 500
Filter Size 50
Filter Step 50

4. Select the light called Hallway and click Light>Edit
Change its shadow parameters to:

Map resolution 500
Filter Size 50
Filter Step 50

5. The Sunlight light does not need to be softened. Since direct sunlight such as this almost always produces sharp shadows.

Now preview again.
It should look like this.

We now have soft shadows, but the room is way too dark.
